Anacaona was a cacica of great beauty, intelligence and seduction; native to Bohío Island or "Hispaniola", she came from a family of Taino leaders.

This woman, when the conquerors who came with Christopher Columbus arrived, was enchanted by their knowledge and all the new things that she could see in the land, although the actions of these men condemned them since in 1493 he decided to kill them all and when Columbus returned he found its dead men and its destroyed camps, reason why the Spaniards wanted to take revenge and they looked for Anacaona until killing it. Its name means: "Golden flower".
